Mental Health Counselor Intern, Faith-Based Therapist

Born in Puerto Rico and raised on Oʻahu from the age of three, Monic Medeiros grew up in Mililani in a blended family. With a father who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and a stepfather who owned a family construction business, she developed a deep appreciation for service, perseverance, and the importance of building strong foundations. She now lives in Kailua, where she stays grounded through her faith, family, and community.

Monic began her career in behavioral health in 2021 as a Mental Health Service Specialist with the Hawaiʻi Air National Guard. Through this role, she discovered her passion for supporting individuals as they navigate life's challenges while recognizing and building upon their unique strengths.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the Townsend Institute for Leadership and Counseling. Her training emphasizes attachment theory, character development, and evidence-based counseling practices, preparing her to help clients create meaningful and lasting change. As a Mental Health Counseling Practicum Student, Monic continues to strengthen her clinical skills through supervised training, ongoing education, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Monic is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where children, adolescents, and adults from all backgrounds feel heard, respected, and empowered. She is especially passionate about helping clients understand how past relationships and life experiences shape their current emotional well-being and relationships. By fostering greater self-awareness, she supports clients in developing healthier patterns that promote healing, resilience, and lasting personal growth.

Outside of counseling, Monic enjoys serving at her church, participating in mission trips, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and exploring Hawaiʻi's natural beauty through hiking and beach days. She also enjoys home improvement projects and spending time with her energetic dog, Theo, a German Shorthaired Pointer–Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.

Monic considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life's challenges, discover their strengths, and move toward greater healing, growth, and meaningful connection.
